NRL EDGE: Premier Wellness & Performance Events

This July, we continue our wellness and performance series with our next webinar which brings you:

Train Smarter: Return to Play & Athlete Management Simplified

Dr. Bill Burghardt

Sports Science Simplified: Performance & Return to Play for Any Budget

In this session, Dr. Bill Burghardt will break down how sports science can be used to enhance performance and guide return-to-play decisions in practical, real-world settings. Drawing from his experience in high-level environments, he will provide insight into what elite programs are actually measuring — and why those metrics matter when it comes to managing athletes effectively.

The presentation focuses on making sports science accessible, showing how the same principles used at the highest levels can be applied with limited or no budget. Attendees will learn how to use simple, effective tools — such as jump testing, sprint times, and RPE — to monitor performance, manage workload, and make more informed training decisions.

Rather than focusing on theory, this session is built around practical application. Coaches and practitioners will leave with strategies they can implement immediately, along with a better understanding of how to balance objective data with coaching intuition to improve outcomes in both performance and return-to-play settings.

Ezron Bryson
From Injury to Impact: A Practical Return-to-Play System

In this session, Ezron Bryson will take attendees through the complete return-to-play process — from initial injury through full return to competition and long-term maintenance. Drawing from his experience at the professional level, he will break down how injuries are evaluated, managed, and progressed using a structured, team-based approach.

The session will highlight how successful return-to-play outcomes are built through collaboration across medical, performance, and support staff. Attendees will gain insight into how individualized rehab plans are developed, how load is managed throughout each phase, and how athletes are progressively prepared to meet the demands of their position.

Rather than focusing on isolated exercises, this presentation walks through the full progression — starting with pain management and restoration of movement, advancing through strength and functional development, and ultimately returning athletes to game-speed performance. The emphasis is on making informed decisions at each stage, monitoring response, and preparing athletes not just to return — but to perform.
